MEDIA [IN]DEPENDENCE – the realization of independence and program functions of the public media services in Serbia in the period of budget financing

The aim of the project is to improve professional standards of reporting of the public service through the recommendations and measures based on the research results. This research will determine the extent to which the Radio-Television of Vojvodina is achieving its independence and the programming function, in the period of budget financing, in relation to the propositions set forth by the new Law on Public Media Services.
The central activity of the project is the research that will determine in which way and to what extent the public service of Vojvodina realizes the legal principle of the independence of the editorial policy and other policies; in which way it satisfies the public interest in the various segments of the programing, especially in terms of programming functions, and relationship to the public, particularly with regard to the respect of public demands and accountability to the public by RTV. Also, through the project activities the effectiveness of budget financing, the income and expenses and the financial performance of the public service will be investigated.
The research results will be published in the electronic publication. The publication will be presented to the directors of public services, as well as to the editors and journalists and to all relevant stakeholders in the media sector: the Regulatory body for the electronic media, Ministry of Culture and Information, the Provincial Secretariat for Culture and Public Information, European Union Delegation in Serbia, the national councils of national minorities, media and journalists’ associations and faculties.
